Sanding, Sealing and Re-pointing

Home Uplift provides professional sanding, sealing, and repointing services designed to restore stability, improve appearance, and protect your outdoor surfaces. Over time, surfaces such as block paving, patios, and brickwork can lose their jointing material, become loose, or begin to deteriorate due to weather, traffic, and organic growth.

Each service plays an important role depending on the condition of the surface. Re-sanding is commonly required after pressure washing block paving, as the cleaning process removes the original jointing sand. This sand is essential for keeping the blocks locked in place and preventing movement.

Sealing is recommended for surfaces that require added protection against staining, weathering, and organic growth. It can enhance the appearance of the surface while helping to reduce maintenance over time.

Repointing is used for patios and stonework where the joints between slabs have worn away or failed. Replacing these joints restores structural integrity, prevents water ingress, and improves the overall finish of the surface.

Cleaning Process

Every sanding, sealing, and repointing service begins with a thorough preparation process to ensure safe working conditions, effective application, and long-lasting results.

Any items that could obstruct access or be affected during the process are carefully moved or protected. Surrounding areas are prepared to ensure all work is carried out cleanly and safely.

For sanding, the surface must be fully clean and completely dry before application. Kiln-dried sand is then brushed into the joints of block paving, filling all gaps to restore stability and prevent movement.

For sealing, once the surface is properly prepared and dried, a specialist sealant is evenly applied. This bonds to the surface, helping to protect against stains, reduce future build-up, and enhance the overall appearance.

For repointing, any failed or loose jointing material is first removed. New jointing compound or mortar is then carefully applied between the slabs, creating a strong, clean, and long-lasting finish.

Once the process is complete, the area is left clean, secure, and professionally restored, improving both the durability and visual appeal of the surface.
